Richmond detectives were among friends and family of 28-year-old Michael Alexander to give their condolences in a candlelight vigil, Friday.
Alexander was found shot near the intersection of 29th and Newbourne streets Monday morning.
A big white poster hangs on a tree with the message: rest in peace Michael.
Teddy bears and flowers are placed in tribute to Alexander - and a community gathered to remember his last moments spent near the very tree where he was found.
Emotions are high.
In this neighborhood near Creighton Court - many tonight are angry with the violence that has now claimed their dear friend and family.
Among them, a grieving mother and Richmond police detectives who are determined to give this family some justice.
"Detectives take these cases very personal…I feel very confident we will solve this case," said Major Steve Drew of the Richmond Police Department.
