Dying Trekkie gets advance screening of latest Star Trek film

NEW YORK, NY (WWBT) - - A 41-year-old Trekkie had his dying wish to see the upcoming Star Trek movie granted by the film's director.

It all began with a post on Reddit by a friend of the patient. That led to the story getting picked up by some blogs and tweeted to "Star Trek Into Darkness" director J.J. Abrams, reports CNET.com.

Abrams ended up calling the patient, Daniel, directly and setting up a Trekkie dream. Even though the movie won't come out until May, Abrams let him see the full, not quite finished, film in a private screening.

Daniel's wife reported back on Reddit, "We saw it, and we enjoyed it immensely as a film and as a gesture."
