What began as a shootout ended in the UGA defense holding Nebraska to just 7 second half points as Georgia beat Nebraska 45-31 in the Capitol One Bowl. Aaron Murray lit up the Cornhusker defense for 428 yd's to go along with 5 td's.
Georgia jumped out to a 9-0 lead shortly after a safety on a Nebraska botched punt attempt. Murray hooked up with tight end Arthur Lynch down the middle for a 29 yard touchdown. Nebraska bounced back with two quick scores including a pick 6 by Will Compton but on Murray's very next pass, he found a streaking Tavarres King down the left side for a 75 yard touchdown.
The Huskers led 24-23 at halftime and 31-23 mid way through the third quarter, that's when Murray found Chris Conley on a crossing pattern which Conley took the distance 49 yards to tie the game at 31.
Murray notched his 4th score of the day on a back shoulder pass to running back Keith Marshall from 24 yards out to make the score 38-31 at the start of the fourth quarter. Murray and Conley hooked up again for an 87 yard touchdown with 11:43 left in the game. It was the longest pass play of the season of the Dawgs.
Georgia broke the Capitol One Bowl record with 589 yards in the game and finishes the season 12-2.
