Celebrating New Year's in Carytown

Posted: Updated:
RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

In just a matter of hours the ball on top of the Byrd Theatre will be lit and rise to the sky ringing in the New Year. This year, there's a new and improved ball that will rise on the roof of the theatre. For the second time this year, Cary Street will be open to traffic.

This will make it tough for any vehicle to make it through especially as midnight approaches. Even though traffic could be tricky, restaurants always welcome the open road. This usually means more business for them. Make sure to allow yourself some extra time to park and make it out here in time for a great show.

Police will be out in full force tonight, watching for intoxicated drivers. Allen & Allen are teaming up with Napoleon Taxi Cab to keep you from drinking and driving. From 11PM to 3AM Monday night, Napoleon Taxi Cab will take people home for free. You must ask for the "Sober Ride Home" to be eligible for the free fare.

For more information, you can call Napoleon Taxi at (804) 354-TAXI (8294). Napoleon Taxi is only offering free rides to your home, not to another club or bar.
