RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Virginia Union has struggled to start the season, but they found a lot of success on Sunday.

Highland Springs product Marcell Crump scored a team-high 18 points while teammate Kimar Johnson had a double-double to power VUU to a 72-49 win over Saint Thomas Aquinas College on Sunday, December 30, in Barco-Stevens Hall.

Johnson had 14 points and 10 rebounds as Union surged to their second win on the season.

VUU's Wesley Simmons also scored 11 points for the Panthers.

Saint Thomas Aquinas was led by T.J. Jones' 11 points.

The win raised VUU's record to 2-6 on the season while Saint Thomas Aquinas fell to 1-9.

Virginia Union now faces Livingstone College at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 5 at home.
