RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Benedictine and Henrico faced each other in the Times Dispatch Invitational Tournament title game last Saturday. This week they'll each go for a tournament championship once again.
The Cadets were victorious in the first round of the Capital City Classic, held at Benedictine, featuring some of the best teams in this region of the country. Benedictine topped Bishop Walsh, 81-54, to cruise into the semifinals. Robert Johnson led the way with 22 points, including six three-pointers. The Cadets will face John Carroll from Bel Air, Maryland, in Friday's semifinals.
Elsewhere, Henrico advanced to its tournament title game, escaping the semifinals with a 71-68 victory over Matoaca. Tim Jones paced the Warriors with 22 points. Henrico will look for its second straight championship in the Henrico Holiday Hoops event, when the Warriors face Potomac in Friday's title game. The Panthers nipped Trinity Episcopal, 47-46, in semifinal action Thursday night.
