A New Year's Eve tradition returns to Carytown next week.
Once again, the Byrd Theater will ring in the new year with its ball rise on the roof.
This Richmond tradition is now in its eighth year.
The ball has 350 LED lights that change color. It takes about two minutes to rise to the top, just in time for the stroke of midnight.
Thousands of people flock to Carytown to watch it, but be aware, Cary Street will "not" be closed off.
