Source: VDOTThe wreck on 95 north near Bells Road has been cleared, but it caused major backups all afternoon and into the night.
State police say a car hydro-planed around 2:30 Wednesday afternoon. Its driver lost control and hit a big rig carrying about 8,500 gallons of fuel.
The truck ran off the right side of the highway and hit the guardrail.
The car's driver suffered minor injuries. He has been charged with reckless driving.
There was no spill but crews had to pump fuel from the wrecked tanker into another one. That took several hours and shut down all but one lane of 95.
