Murder of Henrico mom remains unsolved one year later

A family is still looking for answers one year later in the death of a Henrico mother.

56-year-old Bonnie Marrow was shot and killed in Richmond's east end just days before Christmas last year.

Police still have not found her killer. NBC12 spoke to Marrow's long-time Rabbi who is pleading for answers as family goes through another painful holiday season without her.

Bonnie Marrow may not physically be here today, but memories of her personality and love for others live on.

"She was a sweet, precious lady," said Marrow's Rabbi, Gary Creditor. "Her beauty outside was only evidence from her beauty inside."

Rabbi Creditor is pleading for some answers in this now year-old case.

"Every time there's another murder in the city of Richmond, which pains me to know every time someone isn't, that maybe there's going to be a match between that bullet and that gun and somehow match the one that killed Bonnie," said Rabbi Creditor.

December 22nd last year, Marrow was driving to work at VCU Medical Center when she was murdered. She had just come from visiting her son's grave at Oakwood Cemetery.  Her son, Robert Cox Jr., was also shot and killed in his car back in 2010.

Police believe Marrow was shot somewhere in the area of Mechanicsville Turnpike and Nine Mile Road. There are still a lot of questions unanswered as far as what happened between this point and 25th street where she was found unresponsive in her car near the police station.

Officers passed out flyers last year looking for leads, but still no answers.

"I've buried children, stillborns, old and young people, but I never had anything connected to someone who was murdered and that is an emptiness that is beyond words," Rabbi Creditor noted.

NBC 12 also spoke to Marrow's parents over the phone. They say right now they don't want to speak on camera, but they continue to hope for new leads in the death of their daughter.
