A judge sentenced a Henrico man Wednesday to 8 years in prison for distribution of child pornography.
Christopher Todd Matthews, Jr., 29, pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of child pornography. Federal agents found Matthews sharing child pornography videos over the internet, according to court documents.
A further investigation found he had saved 152 of the videos and distributed 86 of them over the internet. Dozens of the child pornographic videos were identified by the National Center for Missing Exploited children as victims in previous law enforcement investigations around the country.
Matthews also sexually abused two minor relatives over a period of 8 years, according to evidence.
"Christopher Todd Matthews is a predator, plain and simple, and we won't tolerate his kind of despicable behavior in Virginia," said Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli. "Not only did he exploit young children by possessing and distributing child pornography, he also terrorized his own family members and robbed them of their childhood innocence. We will continue to seek justice for our children who have endured things no child ever should."
Matthews will be required to register as a sex offender once he completes his prison sentence.
