Chesterfield man facing animal cruelty charge heads to court

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

A Chesterfield man facing an animal cruelty charge goes before a judge Wednesday afternoon.

Carroll Dyke admitted, in front of our camera back in October, that he knew his dog was suffering, but didn't do anything about it.

His neighbor, Ashley Baker, called us because she was concerned about the welfare of her neighbor's dog.

She would feed "Bo" on a regular basis, so she knew when something was wrong.

Baker took pictures of "Bo" while he was inside his dog house. She says he was too weak to get up. The pictures show that "Bo" was emaciated. Baker said he had infections and large lumps near his throat.

Dyke said he knew the dog was suffering, but didn't know he had died until Baker and our crew showed up.

He said he heard him moaning overnight, but didn't feel it was necessary to come out and help him.

Dyke will be in court Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m.
