Driver charged in Hopkins Rd. crash that injured 12

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

A Powhatan man has been charged with reckless driving and possession of marijuana in a crash that injured 12 people in Chesterfield.

Chesterfield police charged Derrick K. Stremovihtg, 21, for running a stop sign on Kingsland Road on December 13. The Dodge Durango he was driving collided with a passenger van on Hopkins Road, police said.

Ten people in the van were injured, along with two others in the Durango. 

The owner of the transport company says the group was returning from a day center, to their group homes.
