A Lunenburg county man probably never knew a trip with his hunting club would end with him killing one of the biggest bears in Virginia history.
25-year-old Danny Ray Lacks killed a 674 lb. Black bear.
According to the Southside Messenger newspaper, it's Lacks first bear he's ever killed.
The paper reports, the hunters had to use a pulley and two trucks to pull the gigantic bear out of the woods and onto a tractor.
The bear was officially measured at 8'9''.
Lacks came close, but still short of beating the Virginia record for largest bear killed.
According to the paper, that record comes from a bear that weighed 740 pounds.
