HANOVER, VA (WWBT) -

Hanover sheriffs have linked a suspect in two Hanover bank robberies last week to at least a dozen others nationwide.

Investigators worked with the FBI and other law enforcement agencies around the country to connect the local cases with robberies in 7 states across the country since July. Eleven of the 12 taking place at banks located inside grocery stores.

The suspect uses wigs, beards, sunglasses and other disguises to hide his identity. Authorities say he has a noticeable gap between his front teeth and a protruding mouth.  He's described as a white male, 20 to 30 years of age, 5'8" to 6'0", heavy build, fair complexion, and short, light-colored hair.

The Sheriff's Office have linked the suspect to two bank robberies within 30 minutes of each other last Wednesday. One was the Sun Trust bank in the 6300 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike around 2:50 p.m. The second was reported from the BB&T bank in the 9100 block of Chamberlayne Road at 3:15 p.m.

In both robberies, the suspect passed a note to the teller demanding money. No weapon was shown and no one was hurt in the robberies. Investigators believe that the suspect was driving a red compact hatchback.

The Hanover Sheriff's Office is seeking additional information from anyone who may have witnessed the events leading up to, during, or after the bank robberies, or any other details that may be relevant.  Investigators note that even the smallest, seemingly insignificant details could be of great value.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Hanover County Sheriff's Office at (804) 365-6140 or the Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.  Citizens can also text Crime Stoppers at 274637 (CRIMES), using the keyword "iTip" followed by the tip. Both Crime Stoppers methods are anonymous.
