You're driving around, taking your kids to soccer practice, picking up the dry cleaning, and shopping for the holidays. No time to make dinner? Now there's a local app that lets you order healthier meals on the go.
If you're tired of eating fast food, but need food fast, YourChowHound.com was create for you.
"I am a busy working parent, and between rushing from work to my daughter's activities after school, I have no time to think about dinner," said John Shiffer, explaining the inspiration behind YourChowHound.com.
Shiffer designed the website and app so you can order prepared meals to-go from grocery store cafe's and deli's.
"Main meals, green beans, mashed potatoes, meat loaf, salmon, chicken, pretty much anything you want," said Buster Wright, President of Libbie Market at Ridgefield Parkway.
So far, the new Libbie Market at Ridgefield and Good Foods Grocery on Gaskins Road are onboard.
"Between our signature paninis, and really delicious salads," said Donnie Caffrey, owner of Good Foods Grocery, "you just don't get quite that kind of salad anywhere."
Customers simply log on to the Your Chow Hound website or app, place an order, set the time they want it, pay online with a credit card, then pick it up.
"They just walk through the door, walk to the Chow Hound sign. We'll give them the order," explained Wright.
Added Caffrey, "And enjoy your lunch break more. The food's ready when you show up at the place."
Many restaurants already have to go order apps, but Shiffer decided to tap into the untapped: "Grocery stores don't have that," he explained. "So we're helping them compete for that 50% of food that is consumed out of home."
There's no extra cost to use Your Chow Hound. It makes a percentage of sales from the grocery stores. And the stores hope to attract new customers.
Said Wright, "It's going to help our business significantly. We're going to expand the people that have tried the store."
Your Chow Hound plans to add the Good Foods Grocery at Stony Point soon, and expand nationwide.
Said Shiffer, "We have talked to some national wholesalers and retailers about offering it and they're very excited about the opportunity."
