Vandals destroy outdoor Christmas decorations in Henrico's west end

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

A group of Henrico neighbors are on the lookout for a trio of Grinches who trashed their outdoor Christmas decorations.

It happened late Saturday night in the Lexington community off Rimbey, Rickey and Spray Courts in the west end.

Neighbors called police who filed a report. But the vandals didn't make a clean get-away, their ‘bah humbug' antics were caught on camera.

The camera catches two people on tape but one you can see more clearly than the other.

The man standing on front yard takes a few moments to look around - perhaps to make sure no one is watching, looking in all directions then all of a sudden just goes for it. Kicking down the plastic deer with force then kicking the Christmas tree, throwing it to the ground. He then flees the scene.

The next morning, homeowner Brock Clich gets a better look at the homes that were hit overnight.

"This is beyond just knocking them down, these were intentionally destroyed and damaged, so some of these decorations that were destroyed they're not going to go back up," said Clich.

The camera that caught the footage is in the mail box post. Police got a look at it too.

"The police came out at about 1 o'clock in the morning last night and he, the officer, reviewed the footage and he made the comment, 'Wish everybody had this,' he thought it was really cool," said Clich.

Clich says there appears to be 3 vandals and he's hoping the footage that his night vision camera caught, will help bring them in.

"We'd love to get them for sure, it's a security issue, and we take pride that this is a safe neighborhood, it's a great place to live, it's a very unfortunate this has happened," he said.

There's a cash reward for their arrests.

If you have any information that can help catch these guys, call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
