Rabies clinic happening Saturday

Hanover County Animal Control is holding a rabies clinic for dogs, cats and 'barn cats' on Saturday.

Hanover's first rabies vaccination clinic will be held on Saturday, December 8th from 9 a.m. to noon at the County Administration Building, 7516 County Complex Road.

Hanover Animal Control is making that easy to allow pet owners to get their animals the required vaccination. These vaccinations will be administered for 7 dollars per animal. The cost for this vaccination is less than you would normally pay when taking the animal to a local veterinarian.

As required by law, all dogs and cats (this includes so-called 'barn cats') to be vaccinated for rabies at four months of age. These animals must also have tags and license proving vaccination.

The veterinarian will administer the shots to the pet at your vehicle without you having to bring the animal inside. The vaccination is good for up to three years unless the pet has never had a rabies vaccination before, in which case it is good for one year.
