Two accomplices discovered in Richmond murder

Posted: Updated:
RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

A Richmond teenager did not act alone when he shot and killed a man, and then robbed and shot another person within days.

Another man is also connected to this same plot and investigators say he even made his girlfriend an accomplice.

We are gathering new details in what appears to be a bizarre crime spree among buddies and one of their girlfriends. In one of the cases the robber reportedly made the victim strip to his underwear before he shot him in the back.

According to the Richmond Times-Dispatach, Walters plead guilty to the murder of one man who was robbed and shot on April 9th. He also pled guilty to robbing a second man who he made strip to his underwear before shooting him in the East End.

The paper reports, Walters and 26-year-old Stephen Mangrum stole that victims phone and wallet. While in his underwear, the man tried to run away but they shot him again. He survived, but the first victim did not.

The paper says that man thought he was meeting Mangrum's girlfriend for a romantic encounter. They reportedly met over lunch and then went to the Chicago Manor Apartments, where Walters and Mangrum were waiting to rob him before shooting him in the eye.

Walters was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the crimes. Mangrum faces sentencing next year.

Both men are also suspects in another shooting at the Trolley Station Apartments that left the victim in a coma.
