HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

In this Restaurant Report, we have to talk about phones. Why? As you know, when you touch a cell phone or hold it to your ear, bacteria can collect on the phone. That's why a health inspector didn't like it when a restaurant had a cell phone sitting on a cutting board.

The violation happened at Tokyo Not Your Average Joe, 8901 Patterson Avenue in Henrico. It had 4 critical violations, plus the cell phone sitting on the prep area cutting board. That and the other violations were corrected during the inspection. The restaurant had one critical on the follow up, which was also corrected.

Also in Henrico, the Waffle House at 5414 Williamsburg Road had 5 critical violations. The inspector noted that the grill cook placed raw burgers on the grill, then dealt with plates and other food without removing their gloves or washing their hands. But it was corrected. This Waffle House earned perfect scores on two follow-up inspections.

Moving to Chesterfield, Mexico Lindo Mini Market at 7411 Jefferson Davis Highway had 4 critical, including that food in the walk-in cooler was not being kept cold enough. On the follow-up inspection, Mexico Lindo had other violations fixed, but the walk-in cooler was still too warm because the door didn't close all the way. The report says the owner would replace a gasket to repair the door.

This week's NBC 12 Hall of Fame Award goes to Cary Street Café, at 2631 West Cary Street in Richmond, a self-described hippie bar with live music. And its quite clean, acing its last several health inspections.
