Pertussis (whooping cough)

Dr. Sheena Keene is keeping a watch for whooping cough.

Initial symptoms are like the common cold and ten to twelve, children will start to make a whoop noise when they try to take a breath.

There is a vaccine for whooping cough.

Patients should seek treatment if they notice the whoop with coughing, coughing leading to vomiting, high fever, difficulty breathing or signs of dehydration.
