BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -
Alabama head coach Nick Saban says he is feeling very proud of his players after the team's victory over Georgia in the SEC Championship.
"I couldn't be prouder of the team, not only in how they competed in this game," said Saban as he opened up the postgame news conference.
Saban stated that he was proud of the team in how they came back in the game several times against Georgia. Alabama ended up edging out the Bulldogs 32-28 with time running out in the game as Georgia approached the endzone. The win has gained the Tide a spot in the BCS National Championship game against Notre Dame. Saban says the chance to play for the national title for the second year in a row is amazing feat for the Tide.
"I also couldn't be prouder of what this team accomplished this season. We had a young team coming back. We really only had nine seniors on the team. A lot of people had new roles. For this team to have another chance to go back to the National Championship is unprecedented," said Saban.
The coach wasn't without his criticisms. Despite his pride, Saban found more areas for the team to work on.
"I'm not saying this is our best game of the year in terms of execution..." said Saban. "...We really couldn't handle their pass rush and it was difficult for us to throw the ball..."
Alabama now prepares to take on Notre Dame in the BCS Championship on January 3rd.
