A typical day at the Goddard School in Chester includes pre-schoolers laughing, learning, and loving the toys in front of them.
However, the last few days have not been typical. While the children are still having fun, they are actually "on the job." They are official toy testers, helping toy manufacturers nationwide decide which toys are the top 10 of the year.
The competition is tough with toys like Kaleido Gears, Dr. Doctor, and Bubber Smart Shapes Kit.
"This is the fifth year that Goddard has done the toy test. Each year, it selects several schools from around the country, and you know, this year, we got lucky," said school owner Stephen Graham.
It is luck, or possibly a little holiday magic. That is the only way to describe having the task of narrowing down 24 popular toys to the top 10.
It is a tough job, but Anthony Brooks is up for the task. He loves the "Candy Construction Set". It allows his imagination to run wild.
"I build houses, and I build my mom's house," said Brooks.
While Anthony is partial to building, Madison Casamento enjoys seeing the gears spinning, especially all of the pretty colors.
However, this task is not about colors. It is about the number these toys rank, and it all comes down to whichever toy holds their attention the longest.
The Top 10 Toys of 2012 are:
-Gymini Move N Play (Tiny Love)
-My First Tool Kit (Earlyears)
-Dr. Doctor (B. Toys)
-Large Play Set on the Farm (HABA)
-Jungle Jingles (B. Toys)
-Bubber Smart Shapes Kit (WABA Fun)
-Neon Wooden Building Blocks (CitiBlocs)
-Kaleido Gears (Quercetti)
