A construction worker fell around 20 feet at a Short Pump work site, breaking his leg and leading to an elaborate rescue operation.
Fire crews received the call around 12:42 p.m. Tuesday and rushed to the 2201 Old Brick Rd.
The man was working on the new ACAC Fitness and Wellness Center, which is located behind the Short Pump Whole Foods and set to open December 17. He was standing on a ladder in an elevator shaft, when he fell around 20 feet.
Fire crews took about two hours to rescue him using a pulley system to lift him out of the shaft and lower him to the ground. He suffered a broken leg.
