Hanover, Bird win Central Region Championships

The final Central Region champions are used to winning championships. L.C. Bird and Hanover took home the titles, in the final years the VHSL will be using the region format.

Hanover won its third region championship in six years, dismantling Hopewell 35-7.  The Hawks will host Stone Bridge in the state semifinals next Saturday.

In Division 6, Paul Robertson had 42 carries for 329 yards and 3 scores, as L.C. Bird took down Varina 36-27.  The Skyhawks will go on the road next weekend.

Both Hanover and Bird were 4 seeds, which means they won on the road in both the region semifinals and finals.
