Police searching for 2 suspects in Southside double shooting

MIDLOTHIAN, VA (WWBT) -

Police are investigating a double shooting at the Richmond Inn and Suites on Midlothian Turnpike.

A man and a woman were rushed to the hospital. Police say both are okay, but the hunt is still on for two suspects.

Police say they are looking for two adult males in their early 20s. One is about 6 feet tall, the other about 5'9''. They were both seen leaving the scene in a dark colored Jeep Cherokee.

As soon as people heard shots fired, guests at the motel say there was commotion outside.

"I heard a bunch of people running screaming so I opened the door and they said a friend of mind had gotten shot," said Victoria Toenniges, "everybody was running and panicking and so was I but I just wanted to make sure they were alright," she said.

It took Toenniges a few seconds to call up to a nearby room to find out she really did in fact know the victims.

"The young lady asked me to come up and help her until the police got there," said Toenniges. "I just knelt down beside my guy friend and tried to console him, let him know they were on the way," she said.

Witnesses say the bullet luckily just grazed the female victim's eye and she is expected to be fine. Police did focus their attention to one particular room. Police on scene say the shooting appears to have happened inside the hotel room.

"Both victims were found inside the hotel room," said Major Steve Drew with Richmond Police Department.

Other guests who may have seen or heard anything were questioned while k-9 units looked for evidence.

Police are asking anyone with information to come forward and talk to police. You can call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
