RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -
A VCU student has been arrested in connection with the two fires set in the Rhoads Hall dormitory last weekend.
State police say 22-year-old, Javier Chavez set fires in bathroom trash cans on the 12th and 18th floors of Rhoads Hall.
Fire alarms woke students early Saturday morning and the building was evacuated for several hours.
The damage to Rhoads Hall was estimated to be around $20,000.
