RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -
The holiday season is almost here, and it looks like a lot of people plan to spend a little more money this year.
They are not just spending their money on gifts. They plan to shell out big bucks to deliver those gifts in person. According to a newly released survey by Allianz Travel Insurance, Americans will spend 12% more on traveling this holiday season compared to this time last year.
It is estimated that this year alone, we will spend close to $73 billion on heading to various destinations.
Nearly six out of 10 Americans say they will take a holiday trip this year, and they will spend an average of $1,116 dollars on getting there. Last year, Americans only budgeted about $980 for travel.
