Highly anticipated Lincoln film premieres

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

The new Lincoln movie is one of the hottest tickets in town. The film shot right in our own backyard is selling out.

"This is the most exciting movie of the year," CineBistro General Manager Matt Russell.

It's just as exciting for Paul Reed who has a friend in the movie.

"I love the history of it but I'm anxious to see Paul in it," said Reed. "Fortunately he's one of my good friends.

Reed's wife Nancy and her friends have been waiting all year for this day.

"It's supposed to be exciting," said Reed.

"And we live right here in history town," said another friend.

People who want a piece of presidential history at CineBistro reserved a seat as soon as they could.

Tickets went on sale Tuesday. Within the first hour, almost all the seats sold out for the weekend premiere.

Friday night, moviegoers have a chance to walk the red carpet, take pictures with the 16th president and interact with cinema staff playing the part.

"I would say it's the buzz," said Russell. "There isn't a single person who hasn't come in here making sure it's playing - saying when can I get my tickets. The excitement is in the air."

By the looks of tickets sales, this could be the pattern for quite some time as moviegoers seek to get their Hollywood fix in the Commonwealth.

CineBistro will keep the red carpet rolled out until 10:00 p.m. Friday. "Lincoln" is also playing in more than a half-dozen other theaters around town.

If you want to re-trace the steps taken by the cast and crew of Lincoln, check out this website from the Virginia Tourism Corporation. It includes forty sites where the stars, including Daniel Day Lewis, filmed scenes, or just spent time relaxing.
