Bryan Park officials discovered dozens of dead fish last weekend and now there's speculation of a possible connection to a big event that happened in Richmond around the same time.
Some of the fish were reportedly covered in drainage and others found on the stone-lining near Bellevue Avenue, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
People in the area say they noticed the color of the water inside the pond changed right before last weekend's Richmond marathon. So, there's some speculation that something may have been added to the water to help build excitement for the race that ran through the same park at the same time the dead fish started showing up.
Park officials say they're looking into what happened and add park workers didn't do anything to alter the water color.
The dead fish have since been cleaned up, but the answer behind this mystery still remains.
