At least eight apartments were damaged in a fire at a two-alarm West End apartment fire.
The crews were called to the Colonial Village at Chase Gayton apartments around 10:15 a.m. Thursday. Once on scene they saw flames coming through the roof at an apartment near 3600 Chase Gayton Circle. The flames and smoke were so heavy crews couldn't go in to fight the fire. They were able to get the fire under control using hoses from outside the apartments.
The fire charred the roof of the building and destroyed at least one apartment. Fire officials say everyone got out safely.
