House fire in South Richmond under investigation

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Richmond firefighters are investigating a house fire that started early Thursday morning.

The fire started in the 5200 block of Stratton Road in south Richmond, just off of Midlothian Turnpike. Firefighters say it only took about 10 minutes to get everything under control.

The call came in just before 5:00 a.m. Smoke could be seen coming out of the home and part of the roof appeared to be charred.

Firefighters say the people who were home when the fire started got out okay and nobody is injured. However, they're now receiving assistance from the Red Cross.

Crews are still working on finding out where and how it started, but say they will release that information soon. Fire crews blocked off a part of the street for some time.
