Hanover Sheriff’s Office Investigates Traffic Fatality Involving Pedestrian

HANOVER, VA (WWBT) -

The Hanover Sheriff's Office is investigating a traffic fatality involving a pedestrian. Authorities say the accident happened last night at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Route 1 near Lewistown Road.

Preliminary investigation by the crash team indicates that a 2008 Lincoln 4 door SUV was traveling south on Route 1, just south of Lewistown Road, in the right travel lane when it struck a man walking in or near the roadway. There were no other injuries reported as a result of this crash.

While the investigation continues, authorities say neither speed, nor alcohol is believed to have been a factor in this crash, and there are no charges pending at this time. Upon making the proper notification to the next-of-kin, the victim's name will be released.
