RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Cleaning agents and sanitizers are very important to keeping a restaurant kitchen clean. But keeping them away from food is just as important, as one restaurant was reminded during the state health inspection.

Sliced red peppers were stored on wiping cloths on the food preparation table at Siam Paragon Thai Cuisine, 13120 Midlothian Turnpike in Chesterfield. The restaurant had 4 critical violations. Problems were corrected. But on the check-up, the inspector again found raw meats being stored together. That problem was also fixed.

It was a lack of sanitizer in the dishwashing machine at Noorani Kabab House at 2757 Hungary Springs Road in Henrico. It had 4 critical violations. The report say there was no sanitizer in the final rinse, as required. But this and other violations were corrected on the spot.

This week's NBC 12 Hall of Fame Award goes to Bocca Toscana Ristorante Pizzeria at 7021 Three Chopt Road in Henrico, which strives to be a truly neighborhood restaurant.

Said Guiseppe Carollo, "People have had a long day, a bad day, they can come in, 'Oh, hey Guiseppe, how's it going? Let me get my usual.' And all the sudden their day turns around."

Bocca Toscana has earned perfect scores on several of its health inspections in the three years it's been open.
