AP: Cantor, Scott, other Congressional incumbents roll

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Eric Cantor defeated Wayne Powell to retain his Congressional seat for another term, the Associated Press projected.

If Republicans retain control of the House of Representatives, Cantor would remain the House Majority leader.

Cantor was considered a heavy favorite, not only because he is the incumbent, but also because he easily out fund-raised Powell.

The AP also declared first-term Republican Congressman Robert Hurt winner of his re-election campaign in Virginia's 5th District. He defeated Democrat John Douglass and Independent Kenneth J. Hildebrandt.

Republican Rep. Robert "Rob" Wittman won re-election for his 3rd term in Virginia's 1st District. He defeated Democrat Adam Cook and Independent Gail Parker.

The AP also called the 2nd District race for first-term Republican Rep. E. Scott Rigell and the 8th District for Democratic Rep. "Jim" Moran Jr.

Virginia's longest-serving congressman, 10th District Republican Frank Wolf, won his 17th term, according to the AP.

Randy Forbes convincingly won his campaign for the 4th District, handily beating Dean Longo.
