Police investigating robbery near Monroe Park campus

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Richmond Police are investigating a violent robbery near the Monroe Park campus.

Police were called to the intersection of Madison and West Broad Street at 9:25 p.m. Friday. They say six to eight black males, ages from 15 to 20 years old, approached the male victim - one member of the group pulled out a handgun and demanded the victim to "empty your pockets."

When the victim refused, the group kicked and punched him. The victim suffered minor injuries in the attack.

The group ran south towards West Broad Street. VCU and Richmond Police have increased patrols in the area.

Police say one of the men was wearing a black track jacket with the word, "ENYCE" on it.
