
PRESS RELEASE FROM CHESTERFIELD COUNTY:
Chesterfield County Opening Shelter, Announces Other Actions
Chesterfield County is opening a shelter at Meadowbrook High School, located at 4901 Cogbill Road in North Chesterfield, as of 10 a.m. today.
Anyone going to the shelter should leave pets at home or with someone to care for them, or may drop them off at the county's Animal Shelter, located at 9300 Public Works Road, Chesterfield. Any pets brought to Meadowbrook High School will be taken to the Animal Shelter and be cared for by Animal Control officers there.
Helpful things to bring to the shelter include identification, pillows and blankets; materials for any special needs, such as baby formula, diapers, prescription medications, etc; as well as books, puzzles or other entertainment for children being brought to the shelter.
The Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office will provide lunch for those in the shelter and dinner will be provided by the American Red Cross.
General District Court closed at noon today. Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court closed at 1 p.m. Circuit court closed at 2 p.m.
All Parks and Recreation activities in county schools, parks and ball fields are canceled Monday, October 29.The Rockwood Nature Center, Bensley and Ettrick Community buildings, the County Museum and Magnolia Grange also are closed Monday. Ettrick library will close at noon Monday.
The Chesterfield County General Registrar's office will be open until 5 p.m. for absentee voting. The address is 9848 Lori Road, Chesterfield, VA23832.
