Baby bottle tooth decay

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA (WWBT) -

Drinking from a bottle seems like one of the most simple things a baby can do, but even that can be a problem if parents aren't careful.

Dr. John Clay is treating baby bottle tooth decay.

Tooth decay occurs when sugary beverages are left clinging to teeth for prolonged periods of time. The problem is exacerbated when babies are given a bottle when taking naps or when being put to bed at night.

As soon as baby teeth eruption occurs they should be cleaned on a daily basis. Don't give them a bottle when they go to bed.

Have your doctor examine your child's teeth at each child visit and discuss with them when your child should first visit a dentist.
