Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney canceled his Henrico stop planned for Sunday, due to Hurricane Sandy.
Romney was scheduled to hold a rally at the University of Richmond, but changed plans Saturday afternoon. The University of Richmond confirmed the plans. Romney instead will campaign in Ohio, reports the Washington Post.
Rallies in Sterling and Virginia Beach on Sunday were also canceled, due to the impending storm.
Campaign spokesman Rick Gorka told the Washington Post the cancellation was "a cautionary move to ensure that emergency resources personnel would not be diverted."
Gov. Bob McDonnell called the decision "very prudent" in light of the storm's projected impact.
