Your Week in Viral Videos: Technology is a hit, politicians aren't

Posted: Updated:

(RNN) – Just in case you had your head buried in the dark hole of presidential debates, we are here to remind you that there were other things going on in the world.

They weren't really important things, but still. How about we take a break from the prognosticating of political "experts" who have to justify their eight years of schooling by making bold predictions about the election?

And yes, there is a freight train of a storm headed toward the East Coast - not a thing to be taken lightly – but that's all the more reason to squeeze some light moments in.

Once you get past the belly laughs and wipe the tears from your eyes, you can send thank you notes for the weekend pick-me-up.

YEAH, THAT JUST HAPPENED

OK, so we can't totally get away from politics. After you see this video (and good gracious, how can you not have seen it already?), you will understand why.

Everyone on this stage except for Mitt Romney appears to be ... um, unnaturally ebullient ... and they may or may not have buried their faces in a tub of beverages that make professional singers sing the wrong words off key and real, real loud.

Wow. No more words. The video says enough.

DO IT FOR THE KIDS

Maybe Congress should propose an amendment that says if kids don't understand a politician's policies, they should go into the rubbish pile. They don't have to word it like that. We're just saying.

This video, besides its sheer priceless entertainment value, is one heck of a commentary on the engine that runs politics.

It's amazing how sharp the perceptions of kids are when it comes to things we think they should "find out about later."

"They're like 5-year-olds fighting over a toy, except the toy is America."

Well said, son. Well said.

JAPAN'S GOT TALENT

Forget about people with natural musical or acting talent. We're telling you juggling is the next big thing in Hollywood.

It's genius. Who would ever have thought of tossing multiple balls in the air and handling them seamlessly without letting them touch the ground (Historian passing us a note)… Apparently, folks, juggling has been around for several thousand years or something like that. Our bad.

Well, yeah, but how many people can do it while moving rhythmically to music? (Historian passing note) … Shut up, you.

TOM HANKS DISSES FULL HOUSE

There are a handful of people who can do pretty much whatever they want on stage and get away with it. Calm yourself, Lady Gaga, you are definitely not one of them.

When Hanks appeared on Jimmy Fallon's late-night show and put down a beloved 1990s sitcom – in the most unintimidating way possible – it was a gentle reminder that he is still at the top of the Hollywood "A" list.

It should also have been a wake-up call for Fallon to stop letting more talented people upstage him on his own show.

KEEP IT CLASSY

Halloween – not just for little kids who like candy anymore. If playing dress up and getting drunker than any time except New Year's Eve is your thing, it's a pretty cool holiday.

But some people have just taken it too far. Maybe a better choice of words is "taken it too short."

This is good advice from ladies who want to bring respectability back to grown-ups in costumes, even if it does fall on deaf ears.
