Bond set for former teacher accused of having sex with a student - NBC12.com - Richmond, VA News

The Chesterfield teacher charged with having sex with a student is expected to be released on bond Thursday.

Anna Michelle Walters will be released on $10,000 bond. Walters was arrested by Chesterfield Police Wednesday and charged with two felonies.

The arrest came after a former student posted nude photos that he claimed were of the teacher on twitter.

The charges read in court were different than those Chesterfield police released. Walters is now charged with one felony count of taking indecent liberties with a child and one felony count of non-forcible sodomy with a child.

Also in court her father, Michael Walters, took the stand to convince the judge his daughter should be released.

Mr. Walters said last Wednesday his wife had a stroke. That was the same day news broke his daughter allegedly had inappropriate relationships with students and nude photos of the 24-year-old were posted on Twitter, apparently by one of those students.

When Mrs. Walters was being treated at a local hospital, doctors found cancerous tumors in her lungs. Mr. Walters said once his wife undergoes her operation, the recovery period is at least six weeks.

When Walters is released into her parents custody, she will care for her mother.

While she waits for her next court date, Walters cannot have any contact with her victim or any child under the age of 18 without an adult present. Walters will also undergo counseling.

Walters is scheduled to appear in court January 3 at 9 a.m.
