Crowds form early for President's rally in Richmond

Posted: Updated:
RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Crowds gathered early Thursday in Richmond to get a seat at President Obama's rally at the Carillon.

Many showed up as early as 4:30 a.m., despite doors not opening until 9 a.m. The event is free, though an electronic ticket is required.

This event will bring plenty of traffic to the Richmond area, and a number of streets will be closed in advance of the president's visit. People who park on streets near the Carillon can expect to be towed.

It's also recommended that you park at City Stadium. There will be crews there to shuttle attendees to the Carillon.
