The Richmond City Council is holding a meeting Wednesday to discuss the roundabout surrounding the Lee Monument.
Some local school leaders say they have had enough, after a student and her father were hit by a car near the Lee Monument. The roundabout is at North Allen and Monument Avenues, near Orchard House School
There is still damage here where neighbors reported the accident. The father and daughter are doing okay, but it's going to be a long recovery process.
Neighbors say, it was raining when a driver lost control and ran into the sidewalk, but a slippery road is just one of many issues people living here have been concerned about.
While this traffic circle is supposed to alleviate traffic and force people to slow down, neighbors say drivers do not always do that.
Some solutions being proposed are larger yield signs and obvious crosswalks.
Councilman Charles Samuel's has also recommended turning this area into a school zone since Orchard House School is nearby.
So Wednesday night at 6:00, there is a meeting at the school to talk about some short and long term solutions for the roundabout. The school is at 500 N. Allen Avenue.
According to police reports, the Lee Monument roundabout averages about 14 reported accidents a year. If you include this latest one, there have been 12 so far.
