Henrico approves taxi fee for RIC passengers - NBC12.com - Richmond, VA News

Henrico County supervisors approved a proposed new fee for taxi drivers taking passengers from Richmond International Airport.  

The fee will allow cab drivers to charge two extra dollars for trips from the airport.

The airport commission supports the new fee. They're also asking Richmond, Hanover County, and Chesterfield County to support it.

They say the fee offsets the cost of drivers making upgrades to their services, which will improve quality of service and safety for passengers.

"The taxi operators have made a significant investment for a better passenger experience," said Troy Bell, a spokesperson for the airport. "They operate new vehicles, they have uniforms, they have additional training."

Bell says the fee will help drivers maintain these standards.
