The Great Debate: Round Two

If you watched the last presidential debate, you might agree that we had a very robust mano-a-mano debate. Depending on which side of the political aisle you are on, there might be difference of opinion about who won. This time most of the various unscientific polls indicated that President Obama won.

So where do we go from here. This week, my message is directed to the young people or to those that might be voting for the first time. Make sure you gather your facts before you make up your mind about who you will vote for on the national and local level.

Don't let the debates serve as the total basis for your decision. Engage in conversations with your parents, friends and people you respect. But I think one of the most important things you can do, is to make sure that you discuss, read and investigate opposing views. The involvement of young people in the process now, is the key to involvement when they are older. One may argue that we are experiencing one of the greatest civics lessons about politics, the constitution, personal liberties and freedom of speech in modern times.

Don't let this moment in history pass you by. Stay involved.
