Croup - NBC12 - WWBT - Richmond, VA News On Your Side

Dr. Paul Strehler is on the case of croup.

Croup is a viral infection of the vocal cords, voice box and windpipe. Symptoms include a barking, seal-like cough with a hoarse-scratchy voice.

Croup is generally not preventable, but it can sometimes be alleviated with the inhalation of warm mist.

Severe breathing problems should necessitate a call to the doctor immediately or go the emergency room.
