Dr. Ruth Latham is noticing that cold sores are becoming common in adults and children.
Cold sores are caused by infection with the herpes simplex virus .
They are spread from person to person. Do not share lipsticks, lip gloss and chapstick. Do not share straws, forks, spoons or knives.
See your physician to get a prescription for an antiviral medication. There are some over the counter medications that also help with pain.
