The Medical Examiner has ruled that a Prince George High School senior's death was due to drowning, after he crashed into a swamp while pulling over to let a police officer pass.
Marvin Massenburg Jr. died on September 25 on his way to school. He was driving on Courthouse Road when he pulled over to the side of the road for a police officer, police said. The road suddenly drops near the spot where Massenburg pulled to the side and his car tumbled off the road into a ravine near Bull Hill Road. Massenburg's car flipped over into about 10 feet of water and was completely submerged.
The officer called for help and jumped in. Another Prince George officer arrived a few minutes later, but neither could get Massenburg out. A crew pulled Massenburg's car from the water and found his dead body inside.
Massenburg was a senior at Prince George High School and is described as an upbeat guy who worked hard and always had a smile on his face. Hundreds packed a memorial in his honor at the Prince George High School gym.
