People in one Bon Air community are taking it upon themselves to spread the word: crime is happening in their neighborhood.
A sign posted near the Spring Grove neighborhood says, "Lights on! 13 cars robbed! Lock up!"
Police say there were at least a dozen car break-ins, overnight. Many of the cars targeted were unlocked - a few had smashed windows.
Police say neighbors should help keep an eye on their neighborhood.
"You like to think you don't have to post signs like that in your neighborhood... at the same time, it's nice we have close collaboration, so word of mouth spreads quickly," said Birgitte Tingley.
The typical items - like GPS devices, loose change, and wallets - were stolen out of these cars.
