Peanut butter recall expanded to include other products - NBC12.com - Richmond, VA News

A peanut butter recall announced last week has expanded to include other products, including cookies, crackers, and sauces.

19 states, including Virginia, are impacted by the recall. There are 30 suspected cases of salmonella nationwide.

The problem started with a recall of Trader Joe's Valencia Creamy Salted Peanut Butter. Now, more than 100 products made on the same machines have been added to the list, including Archer Farms, Harry and David's, and Heinen's brands.

Snacks made with the peanut butter are also being pulled by Giant Foods, Stop 'N Shop, Whole Foods, and Newman's Own Organics.

The contamination was traced back to a processing plant in New Mexico run by Sunland Inc.

Children, the elderly, people with compromised immune systems and pregnant women are most vulnerable to salmonella poisoning.
