Henrico Police Animal Protection is reminding pet owners to get their animals vaccinated after a rabid skunk was found in Sandston.
The skunk attacked a dog Sunday on Armstead Circle in Sandston. When officers arrived they found the skunk had died. Tests done by the State Lab found the skunk had rabies.
The dog involved in the incident had a current rabies vaccination and will be quarantined for 45 days.
Henrico Police Animal Protection is asking pet owners to keep their rabies vaccinations current. If you notice any abnormal wildlife behavior, you can report it to the Henrico Police Non-Emergency Communications Center at (804) 501-5000.
